Land Management Made Easy with Tractor Flail Mowers
Our tractor flail mowers are designed for superior performance across working width and cutting width options, helping operators maximize coverage without sacrificing cut quality. Built for mowing slopes and hills, ditch banks, and uneven ground, they excel where finish mowers and rotary cutters struggle.
Featuring high-speed rotors, adjustable rotor speeds, and hammer-style blades, Remet mowers efficiently process heavy brush, woody growth, and pasture grass. Unlike a brush hog, the flail design keeps debris contained and produces a finer cut.

Flail Mower FAQs
What is a Flail Mower Used For?
Flail mowing is used to cut and mulch grass, weeds, and small shrubs. Flail mowing is an ideal solution when landscaping larger areas of land that a standard finish lawn mower cannot handle. They are designed to handle heavy-duty maintenance tasks such as:
- Mowing meadows
- Pastures
- Orchards
- Prairies
- Hiking trails
They are also commonly used for municipal right-of-way shoulder maintenance due to their robust construction, ease of maintenance, and compact size. Models with hydraulic side-shift capability make it easy to mow close to fence lines, ditches, and between trees in orchards and tree plantations.
How Does a Flail Mower Work?
Remet flail mowers are designed for quick, secure mounting using a 3-point attachment system. Simply align the mower with the tractor’s three-point hitch, insert and secure the hitch pins, connect the PTO shaft, and, if equipped, attach the hydraulic lines. This 3-point attachment design ensures stable operation, proper weight distribution, and compatibility across a wide range of tractors.
What Size Flail Mower Do I Need?
Each of our Remet Flail Mowers is differentiated by their mowing width: 40”, 48”, 55”, 63”, 69”, 71”, 79”, 89”, 98”, 108”, 118” models are available.
- FMS and F1 Series - The 40” and 48” widths require a minimum 15hp tractor while the 55”, 63”, and 71” models require a minimum tractor power of 20 HP to operate. Tractors with a power of 50+ HP are not recommended. This series is perfect for compact diesel tractors and older smaller horsepower tractors.
- F2 Series - The 69”, 79”, 89”, and 98” models require a minimum 60hp tractor with a maximum recommended hp of 120hp. This series is ideal for utility-class agricultural tractors.
- F2 PRO Series - The 98”, 108”, and 118” models require a minimum 100hp tractor with a maximum recommended hp of 160hp. This series is ideal for larger utility class and row crop agricultural tractors.
All of our flail mowers are compatible with tractors fitted with three-point hitches. Models with side shift capability also require hydraulic ports.
How is a flail mower attached to a tractor?
- Park safely - On level ground, engage the brake, and shut off the tractor.
- Engage the hitch - Lower the hitch to receive the flail mower.
- Align the hitch points - Between the flail mower and the tractor.
- Connect and secure - Insert the hitch pins into the holes between the tractor’s three-point hitch and flail mower, securing them into place.
- Attach the PTO shaft - To the tractor’s PTO output and the flail mower’s input shaft, secure the connection, and attach the PTO safety chain.
- Connect the hydraulic lines - If your model includes a hydraulic side shift.
- Adjust cutting height - Use the adjustable skids or lever depending on the model.
- Power up the PTO - This engages the blade mechanism.
What kind of flail mower is best for mowing slopes and hills?
Each of our Remet flail mowers is designed to work on uneven terrain, ditches, and slopes. You’ll find that marshy and muddy terrain is no challenge either, as Remet Flail Mowers are efficient in covering all types of landscape.
What are your processing and shipping times for flail mowers?
